Who the classes are for

You don't need to know anything about Medicare to come. The classes are a good fit if you are:

  • Turning 65 soon and not sure where to start
  • Still working past 65 and wondering when to sign up
  • Already on Medicare and wanting to understand your choices
  • Anyone who wants Medicare explained without a sales pitch

What you'll learn

"Taking the Mystery Out of Medicare" walks through how Medicare works, in general terms:

  • How Parts A, B, C and D fit together, and what each one covers
  • When you can sign up, and which enrollment windows apply to you
  • How Medicare Supplement plans and Medicare Advantage plans differ, in general
  • How prescription drug coverage works
  • Why plans change every year, and what the fall Open Enrollment Period is for

What to expect: education only

Expect a plain-English talk, with time for your questions. Our classes are educational events. No plans are sold, no applications are taken, and no plan-specific benefits are discussed.

That means you can ask anything about how Medicare works, but Jamie won't talk about specific plans, their benefits or their prices at the class. If you'd like that kind of personal help, you're welcome to request a separate no-cost consultation for another day.

Bring a class to your group

Employers, alumni groups and other groups can request a class. Jamie teaches Medicare classes through Utah Tech Community Education, and he can bring the same plain-language class to your group.

To ask about a class, call (801) 332-0709 or use our contact form and choose "A class for my group." Tell us a little about your group and when you'd like to meet, and we'll work out the details with you.

Can't make a class?

You can start learning on your own. These pages cover the basics in plain English:

The enrollment-window tool on our home page can also show your sign-up dates in a couple of minutes. And you can always call us with a question, class or no class. If you'd like to go over your own situation and coverage options, you can request a no-cost consultation with Jamie by phone or Zoom.
