Medicare help in St. George and Southern Utah

Whether you've lived in St. George for years or just moved to Southern Utah, Medicare is easier with someone to walk you through it. Jamie helps Washington County families by phone and Zoom, and he teaches a free class at Utah Tech Community Education. Here is how to get help, plus free local resources.

Help by phone or Zoom

You don't need to drive anywhere. Jamie can talk through your options by phone, or meet face to face on Zoom from your own living room.

Together, we'll check your doctors and prescriptions against the plans we offer where you live, explain the trade-offs, and handle the enrollment paperwork if you decide to go ahead. Every fall, we'll review your plan with you. Consultations are free, and we're available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.

New to Southern Utah? What a move means for your Medicare

  • Medicare Advantage or Part D plans are offered in specific service areas. If you move out of your plan's area, you can switch plans. Your chance to switch begins when you move and lasts for two full months after the move. If you tell your plan before you move, it begins the month before. The same timing applies if you move within your plan's area and have new plan options.
  • A Medicare Supplement (Medigap) can stay with you. You can keep your current policy no matter where you live, as long as you still have Original Medicare.
  • Original Medicare works with any doctor or hospital that takes Medicare, anywhere in the U.S.

Spending part of the year somewhere else?

If you split your time between Southern Utah and another state, how your coverage travels matters:

  • Original Medicare, with or without a Medigap policy: any doctor or hospital that takes Medicare, anywhere in the U.S.
  • Medicare Advantage HMO: generally, care from the plan's network only. The exceptions are emergency care, out-of-area urgent care and temporary out-of-area dialysis.
  • Medicare Advantage PPO: out-of-network care is generally covered, but it usually costs more.
  • Travel outside the U.S.: Original Medicare generally doesn't cover care outside the U.S. Some Medigap policies cover emergency care outside the U.S., and some Medicare Advantage plans offer it as an extra benefit.
